Abstract
The FS 47 transport system has been designed and developed by Cogema (Compagnie generale des matieres nucleaires) for the transport of plutonium oxide produced at the reprocessing plant of La Hague and new developments have been made for the design of a packaging used for air transport. Tests have been carried out to demonstrate the conformity of the packaging with IAEA Regulations for a B(U) and fissile II type packaging. Heat dissipation tests have also been performed. Experience has been gained from transports carried out in Europe and to Japan.
