TRANSPORT AND STORAGE OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS IN JAPAN

Abstract
Current status of radioactive material transport and spent fuel storage in Japan were introduced. Under the circumstance, more than 40 papers have been submitted from Japan to PATRAM 2010. Most of papers were dealing with transport and storage of spent fuel. Topics from Japan to PATRAM 2010 included holistic approach in conducting storage and transport safety analysis proposed by the Japanese competent authority and confirmation method on safety of transport after long-term storage of dual purpose cask proposed by the Japanese utilities. Topics from researches by CRIEPI were also introduced. Future transport and storage were envisaged with some issues for development for safe and secure nuclear fuel cycle.
