Abstract
The Modular Integrated Video System (MIVS) is a surveillance/containment device in development stage to be employed by the IAEA in its inspection effort. A series of ten tests were carried out with ten MIVS units at the IAEA headquarters in order to assess the system's reliability. An estimate of reliability and other measures are obtained by a resampling procedure assuming that a MIVS is a system of two parallel working video tape recorders (VTR). During the tests one of the VTRs showed comparatively a long period of suspended operation. The effect of such a temporary mode of failure to the overall MIVS reliability is also treated applying the same resampling technique.
