Abstract
The Compact K-Edge Densitometer is a transportable measurement system that employs K-absorption edge densitometry to determine the Plutonium concentration of solution samples. The instrument is positioned inside the rubber glove of a glove-box such that a sample can be placed in a sample holder between transmission sources and a Ge-Li detector. Thus, the only component of the instrument that is exposed to the environment inside the glove-box is a replaceable sample holder. During fall 1983, an IAEA team performed a test and evaluation of the Compact K-Edge Densitometer. This paper describes the measurement system, the measurement procedure, and the methodology employed in the test and evaluation. The measurement results are presented and the significance of the results are discussed.
