Inventory and Verification of Stored Nuclear Material

We describe prototype equipment and operational procedures which have been developed to manage the storage, inventory, and verification of special nuclear material for a particular vault at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. A brief discussion is given regarding personnel access, verificiation of nuclear materials placed in and removed from storage vaults, and a method of continuous monitoring of the stored material. A detailed description of the statistical comparison of nuclear material signatures is given.
