Abstract
This paper describes the integration of an activated perimeter barrier into of a physical protection system. Effective perimeter barriers are attractive exclusionary devices for protecting theft targets and are essential for protecting sabotage targets. Activated barriers are characterized by dramatic improvement in their penetration delay times over those for fixed barriers. Recently, an activated perimeter barrier has been developed. It is force activated, has a persistency of hours, and is effective against sophisticated attempts at penetration for at least 15 minutes. Force activation can be accomplished by the actions of the adversary or of the security force.
