Internal regulation on the safeguards implementation at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute

Internal regulation on the safeguards implementation at Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute(KAERI) includes the organization, responsibility, methods and procedures required at the facility level as well as the requirements for International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) safeguards implementation, domestic laws, and regulations. KAERI should comply with the internal regulation on the safeguards implementation. In addition it should be prepared according to the government guidelines and be approved from the government when it is revised. As the domestic laws and regulations on the safeguards implementation were revised in 2014, the government gave KAERI new guidelines on the preparation of internal regulation regarding safeguards implementation in 2015. According to the revised government guidelines, KAERI prepared the internal regulation and obtained approval from the government in Aug. 2016. In this paper, the status of the internal regulation on the safeguards implementation at KAERI revised in 2016 was investigated. The major changes including government approval, national safeguards inspection, and internal training at KAERI were studied.
