Abstract
Facilities have been provided to permit the observation of sampling, weigh- ing, and packaging procedures for cylinders of uranium hexafluoride in the civilian special nuclear materials flows. Weighing of both full and empty UF6 cylinders, the scales used and their precision, and calibration and test weight procedures are discussed as well as the liquefaction, homogenization, and liquid sampling steps required for analytical measurement purposes. Visitors, both foreign and domestic, can be admitted to the facility inasmuch as portions of the facilities are outside the perimeter security fencing. To date, the facilities have been visited by representa- tives of Transnuclear, Sumitomo, Eldorado Nuclear Limited, and NUKEM.
