Abstract
The legal and constitutional framework for the implementation of nuclear safeguards in the European Atomic Energy Community is outlined, and the differing requirements of the Euratom Treaty and of the Agreements in implementation of the NPT are discussed. The current arrangements for the practical implementation of safeguards are discussed, and examples are given of the inspection effort allocated to plants of various types.
