DETERMINATION OF THE PLUTONIUM CONTAINED IN WASTE BY GAMMA COUNTING

At the Center, of VALDUC, we have to measure plutonium in the form of wastes(chips, powder, filings) contained in plastic bags and accompanied by various low density materials. The only emitter V present, except plutonium isotopes, is Americium 241. The 240 Pu content of the wastes is below 10 %. The device should be placed in a workshop and used by non-specialized workers.
