Abstract
The Hanford Federal Facility Agreement and Consent Order, popularly referred to as the Tri-Party Agreement (TPA), was signed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Washington State Department of Ecology on May 15, 1989. The TPA represents a comprehensive effort to bring DOE's Hanford Site, located in eastern Washington State in the United States, into compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).
