Abstract
A state-of-the-art video surveillance system, the Modular Integrated Video System (MIVS), has been developed by Sandia National Laboratories for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The development of this system was sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Program of Technical Assistance to IAEA Safeguards. The development of the MIVS has followed, and continues to do so, a well-defined program plan. This paper revisits this program plan, including the completed development and initial production activities, the reliability testing currently in progress at the IAEA, and the other activities currently in progress leading to field evaluations and implementation. The lessons learned are highlighted.
