Abstract
The movement, in a facility, of spent reactor fuel may be tracked using simple instrumentation together with a real time unfolding algorithm. Experimental measurements, from multiple radiation monitors and crane weight and position monitors were obtained during spent fuel movements at the GE Morris Spent-Fuel Storage Facility. These data and a preliminary version of an unfolding algorithm were used to estimate the position of the centroid and the magnitude of the spent fuel radiation source. Spatial location was estimated to _+ 1.5 m and source magnitude to + 10% of their true values. Application of this surveillance instrument?tion to spent-fuel safeguards is discussed.
