Abstract
It is a real pleasure to see old friends again. Some of you I don't get to see often except for meetings like this and as we were asked to do this morning, I hope to get a chance to speak with each of you before Wednesday afternoon. Some of us have been quite fortunate to grow along with this technology that we are engaged in; I believe we call it the nuclear industry. We look with a certain amount of pride on the overall accomplishments. These accomplishments are, of course, have not been without trial, tribulations, problems, and decisions which were not always best. A person can believe that we are fast approaching a period in this industry which will be a significant milestone, and I think this was pointed out this morning. In another few years there will be a tremendous increase in the number of nuclear power reactors, operating and generating power for the utilities industry. There are more power reactors about to be placed in operation and the benefits which will be derived, I hope, someday will justify the effort that has been made to develop this new industry.
