Abstract
Application of NDA of fissile materials should be based on a detailed analysis of the safeguards requirements and the in plant measurement conditions. Examples of such studies are illustrated. A survey of the instrumentation generally used by inspectors of the EURATOM Safeguards Directorate is presen- ted. A methodology is proposed to reach a higher reliability in NDA data treatment. Results obtained for Pu isotopic ratio measurements by gamma ray spectrometry and bulk fissile mate- rial determination by active neutron interrogation are presen- ted. The procurement of physical standards is discussed.
