Umpire Qualification Program

By press release No. IN-584 dated Hay 4, 1965, the AEC announced a program directed toward the qualification of commercial laboratories to be used aa umpires in settling possible measurement differences for plutonlum and uranium materials transferred between the AEC and industrial firms. Phillips Petroleum Company, AED, was selected to administer this program. The objective of the program is to qualify a number of Independent commercial laboratories, both in the United States and in foreign countries, to serve as umpires in disagreements between the AEC and another party arising from differences in the measurement of the quantity and quality of uranium and pluton— ium transferred between the parties.
