Abstract
Tank Monitoring Evaluation Systems (TaMES) help IAEA inspectors evaluate measurements collected by data acquisition systems installed in facilities under safeguards. These systems provide assurance that plutonium carrying solutions travel through a facility as expected. They also support near-real time accountancy. The methods and algorithms that are central to TaMES are based on a sub-event representation that facilitates flexible reasoning. These sub- events are collected together to represent events that most likely describe what is going on. Typical events include imports, exports, inter-tank transfers, recirculation and acid addition. The inspector interface is an important part of the overall system.
