Abstract
It is indeed a pleasure to have this opportunity to address your fine organization on the current status of the proposed changes in the Interstate Commerce Commission Transport Regulations. I believe that this is the first time that a member of the Bureau of Explosives has met with your organization, although in looking out into the audience I see many familiar faces. For those who may not be familiar •with our organization, I have brought with me several copies of a circular entitled \"A Short History of the Bureau of Explosives\". For the past several years, the Bureau of Explosives has devoted a great deal of time to developing various proposals revising parts of the present Interstate Commerce Commission Regulations governing the shipment of radioactive material. It has been our goal to achieve conformity and consistency in all regulations governing the transportation of this material, while at the same time achieving simplicity, and above all, continuing to enable shippers to make safe, economic shipments.
