Abstract
The objectives and policies of the Reagan Administration with respect to the commercial uses of nuclear energy have been explicitly defined in the President's international and domestic nuclear policy statements in July and October of 1981, and subsequent directives on plutonium and other nuclear policy issues. The speech will address the nature and objective of these policies as well as the state and future of nuclear energy in this decade. It specifically addresses current actions and efforts in commercial reprocessing, enrichment, safeguards, new thrusts in international cooperation and efforts to ensure the vitality of the nuclear enterprise.
