Abstract
The measurement control program is one of the nine Fundamental Nuclear Material Control principles which form the overall system currently utilized by NRC licensees to control and account for special nuclear material. The measurement control program is essentially a quality assurance program for special nuclear material measurements. It includes the monitoring and control of measurement performance as well as the determination of measurement uncertainties This paper discusses the basic features of the program as well as some of the quality assurance issues which were identified, discussed with licensees, and resolved during the NRC review of plans submitted in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR 70.57).
