Abstract
A state of the art video surveillance system, the Modular Integrated Video System (MIVS), has been developed by Sandia National Laboratories for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The development of this system was sponsored by the U. S. Department of Energy and by the U. S. Program of Technical Assistance to IAEA Safeguards. As part of the MIVS development program plan, certification testing and field commissioning activities were conducted. The certification testing consisted of a multielement environmental test which included temperature and humidity testing, transportation handling tests , and statistically-based reliability testing. Field commissioning activities included the installation and evaluation of the units at selected facilities in several IAEA member states. This paper discusses these activities and highlights the results obtained.
