Abstract
You might legitimately inquire: Why is it particularly appropriate in 1966, eight years after the founding of the Institute, to review its accomplishments? I believe that there has been enough turnover in membership of the Institute that this might be a good time to bring its history up to date. Further, some of the older members of the Institute are finding their interests diverted to other fields, and the possibility of losing the continuity in the next few years becomes rather real. Consequently, it is desirable to put down in the written record a resume of our accomplishments to date.
