Abstract
As announced by the AEC on May 5ยป 1965. in Press Release IN-581+, the Atomic Energy Division of Phillips Petroleum Company was selected to conduct a program, on behalf of the Office of Safeguards and Materials Management of the AEC, directed toward the qualification of interested U. S. commercial and foreign government laboratories as umpires in AEC transactions involving uranium and plutonium materials. The materials are those now being transferred or planned for transfer between the AEC and private industries or foreign govern- ments. This assignment was assumed by Idaho Nuclear Corporation in July 1966. The measurements fall into three major categories of (a) concentration of uranium and plutonium, (b) isotopic distribution of the uranium and plutonium, and (c) the levels of various impurities.
