Abstract
I believe that the three most important issues facing those persons involved in the management of nuclear materials today concern: (1) the safeguards control of nuclear material to prevent proliferation of nuclear weapons, (2) the development of standards that are useful to the nuclear industry, and (3) the acceptance of the general public of nuclear energy in its various forms for the benefit of mankind. As I look across the subject matter for this 1966 annual meeting of I.N.M.M., I can see that all of the other papers to be presented bear either directly or indirectly on safeguards control and standards activity. My brief discussion today will concern the public acceptance issue.
