Abstract
LASCAR (LArge SCAle Reprocessing Plant Safeguards) is a multinational forum which consists of the Federal Republic of Germany, France, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, including reprocessing plant operators. The International Atomic Energy Agency and EURATOM also participate. The forum was established, prompted by additional financial support offered to the Agency in 1987 by the Government of Japan, to assist the Agency through the provision of information and expert advice in the development of effective and efficient safeguards for large scale commercial reprocessing plants. The focal points being on technology already developed, current development activities and future research and development requirements. This paper intends to summarize; 1. Past and expected future LASCAR activities. 2. Major Topics under discussion in LASCAR.
