Abstract
tional Laboratory has been developing procedures for regional inspectors of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to use while conducting inspections of the physical protection systems at licensed nuclear facilities. A prime objective is to adequately describe the available technology in protective systems. The status of the procedures is described, along with their organization to ensure compliance with government regulations and the approved physical security plans for the facilities being inspected. The thrust of future effort in this area is indicated.
