Abstract
An aggressive, Imaginative, and creative physical security program, incorporating the latest technology, should be a basic part of all programs for managing nuclear materials. At the Lawrence Llvermore Laboratory we are attempting to use In our security program some of the same tools and technology that are normally used to help solve our scientific problems. These systems Include: computer access by Individual numbers (CAIN), police alarm communications control (PACC), and broad-coverage television systems. These systems represent large initial capital Investments, but the expenditures have been justified in terms of reduced operating costs and better security. This paper describes these systems and explains their part in our overall security program.
