Abstract
I am singularly honored to have been invited to address this Seventeenth Annual Meeting of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management. I want to congratulate the Technical Program Chairman, Bob Keepin, and his Committee for their outstanding success in arranging a program that directly addresses a subject so vital to our nation's energy needs. There was good news for all of us earlier this month. Nuclear Power is alive and well. It did not retire in California! On the contrary, this year nuclear energy will produce nearly a tenth of our national electrical needs, with a safety performance record unmatched by any comparable industry.
