Abstract
Since 1975, the NRC program of safeguards research has stressed the development of systematic methods for uniform, equitable and repeatable evaluation of the effectiveness of licensee systems, and confirmed data and tested methods to improve the technical judgments and assumptions used in regulation development, license review, field evaluation and inspection. The major accomplishments of this program have been traced during past meetings of the INMM, usually by papers presented by Sandia National- Laboratory, Albuquerque (SNLA) on methods for physical protection, and fay Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLHL) on methods for material control and accounting (MC&A).
