Abstract
Our first speaker, Dr. L. James Colby, Jr. received an A. A. degree from Santa Rosa College in 1953, a B. S. degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1955, his Ph.D. from Purdue in I960; he has held positions with Atomics International, U. S. Atomic Energy Commission, and General Atomics. He started his career as a professor at Purdue University. In 1975 he joined Allied Chemical where, since 1976, he has been President of the Nuclear Services Division. Dr. Colby. Good afternoon. I see that the toll on this audience after a large lunch and a hot day has been very minor -- which is very commendable. This morning's speakers, as I am sure you are all very aware, covered a wide range of topics. The speech that I will give this afternoon will be one of the specifics of the general comments made this morning, namely what is needed for the use of the Barnwell Plant, recognizing the current policy situation and of controlling nuclear proliferation around the world.
