Abstract
Complete clean out operation for nuclear material held in process equipment which is installed in enclosure (glove box) of MOX fuel fabrication facility is difficult in practice,because overhaul of the process equipment is not easy. At the time of physical inventory taking,on the other hand, accumulated quantity of holdup material in MOX fuel fabrication line is not negligible for safeguards inspection. Without having any NDA method for holdup, facility operation is greatly disturbed by cleaning out work for safeguards inspection. NDA methods for holdup material by using a handheld type neutron detector were investigated and evaluated. This paper describes the features of NDA methods for holdup material by using a hand held type neutron detector.
