Abstract
Mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (MS/MS) is a relatively new technique for trace analysis. This technique has great potential for the identification of explosive vapors. This paper gives a brief overview of MS/MS with emphasis on the characteristics that make it a likely method for explosive detection. Some preliminary data are presented and a new MS/MS instrument being designed and built for detection of trace explosive vapors is discussed.
