Abstract
Our last speaker this morning is very well known to you. He has been on several of our Annual Meeting programs and is an active member of INMM. Admiral Harvey Lyon graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy and had a distinguished thirty-year career both in the submarine service and in the naval research and development programs. During this time, he was awarded several commendations including the Legion of Merit. Before taking his assignment with ERDA in 1975, he was project manager of the Trident System for Naval Material Command Headquarters and there he was responsible for the planning, direction, control, and intregation of all efforts within the Naval Command for the Trident System, including its development and deployment. He is currently the Director of the Division of Safeguards and Security for ERDA and is responsible for coordination of planning, management, and development of ERDA policies and programs, both domestic and international, for safeguarding nuclear material against diversion, for protecting restricted data and other classified information against compromise, and for protecting nuclear facilities, equipment, and material of security interest.
