Abstract
Beginning with the Chemicals Weapons Convention, the term \"managed access\" was introduced to the arms control and nonproliferation world. This was a new concept to be spelled out within a treaty, but the concept is one that is everyday life. Since then, most treaties, protocols, or agreement. Managed access permits the host country to protect its classified or sensitive interests, while at the same time allows the inspection team to fulfill its mission. This paper discusses what managed access is and how it has become a part of most arms control treaties currently under negotiation or awaiting entry-into-force.
