Abstract
A data-network at the Safeguards Analytical Laboratory of the IAEA maintains a central data base with sample and analysis data of the last five years. Specialized software gives access to sample data and analysis results for updating, reporting and evaluations of analytical performance. Results of chemical and isotopic analyses are collected from different measurement positions via direct inter—processor links. A decentralized network design provides stand—alone computing capacity to each working group. The automatic transfer of results to the central system utilizes a standardized format. A specially developed syntax allows to represent data of different types of analyses. The same conventions are used by other contractor laboratories to report their analytical results on magnetic carrier. After collection of all required results, a final analysis report is issued on hard-copy and in machine-readable form.
