It was probably not too difficult to determine from the title of my speech that I would be talking about you, me_ and the Institute of Nuclear MaterialsManagement. Yes,weinINMMaretheinvisiblemenandtheinvisible managersofthenuclearindustry. Ifthiswasnottrue,therewouldbealot less unfavorable written and spoken comments about diversionsof nuclear material,hijackingsandhomemadeatomicbombs. Ifthiswasnottrue,there would be a lot more written and said about the security systems and nuclear material management techniques that do exist rightnow to prevent diversions, hijackingsandothersecuritythreats. Therewouldbemorepublicitywhich would tell the general public what the nuclear industry and the AEC are planningtodotoimprovenuclearprotectioninthenearfuture. Yes,ifit were not true that we are invisiblemanagers, there would be more people within the nuclear industry itself who would know about INMM -- what we are and what we do.
