Abstract
The Mound Electrical Calibration Heater (MECH) was developed by Mound for use in heat flow calorimeters. The MECH probe can be used in conjunction with or in place of 238Pu heat standards to relieve the users' dependence on these standards for measurement control. Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) tested a MECH probe on two identical calorimeter systems. This paper discusses the results of those tests and their relevance to a measurement control program.
