Abstract
The integrity of a barrier such as a fence, vault wall, building wall, or secure container may be monitored by threading optical fibers into the barrier. Light signals are sent into the fibers and are monitored at the other ends. Loss of the light signal indicates that the barrier has been breached. Two design approaches to this problem are discussed.
