Abstract
The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) began operations in 1973 for the purpose of expanding electric energy research and development under the sponsorship of the nation's industry, public, private and cooperative. Its goal is to develop a broad, coordinated, advanced technology program for improving electric power production, transmission, distribution, and utilization in an environmentally acceptable manner.
