Abstract
The U.s. Department of Energy and the Russian Special Scientific and Production state enterprose Eleron have teamed to lead a project to enhance the overall security of Russian Ministry of Atomic Energy(Minatom) transportation of Special Nuclear Materian (SNM) shipments. The effor is called the Automatae Transportation Security System (ATSS) and is part of the overall DOE Material Protection, Control, and Accounting (MPC&A) program addressing the enhancement of nuclear material control and accounting the physical protection for Russian SNM and selected sites. Russian Minatom such as railcar intrusion detection, local alarm displays, access delay, improved on-train and response facility. Significant progress in the development and demonstration of these technologies as applied to Minatom railcars has been complted in the las year.
