Abstract
The nuclear material safeguards system implemented by EDF at its nuclear power plants comprises physical protection systems, material control and accountancy systems and safeguards personnel. Against the background of new nuclear material control and accountancy quality assurance requirements and organizational changes at EDF power plants, this paper aims to highlight how safeguards can be implemented at a nuclear facility today, and what measures can be undertaken to promote quality assurance. It also addresses the issue of evaluating safeguards system performance.
