Abstract
The recent introduction of computer assisted surveillance equipment, the associated use of fiber optics in containment seals, and the need for improved reliability over long-term containment and surveillance intervals led to the development of special test equipment to test these devices. Testing involves quality acceptance test programs during production and verifying functionality while the Containment and Surveillance (C& S) equipment is in service. This paper discusses the requirements for the test as tools for assuring the quality of the associated C&S equipment and outlines concepts used for development of the test equipment. Since it is ATG's goal to provide a cost effective suite of C&S equipment, the total life cycle design concept was used which requires consideration of support equipment for maintaining proper function and system reliability.
