Abstract
This paper introduces the mechanism within the United Kingdom which has meant an increased emphasis on risk management techniques being used with Government. The paper then presents the methodology which was developed with Cranfield University to meet the needs. The methodology is one of direct relevance to the 15 members of an advisory branch. The branch is a centrally funded resource which provides recommendations for protective security upgrades to Government clients. Clients can be within either the military or civil arm of Government. Risk assessment is seen as the most effective method for providing such advice now that clients are no longer bound by prescriptive solutions.
