Abstract
Within the framework of the collaboration between the Eurafom Safeguards Directorate and organizations of the Russian Federation, the MINS project concerns the design and realization of a pilot computerized accountancy system involving workstations at six locations: Afominform (headquarters), Minatom, Rosenergoatom (operator organization), the Kalinin and Smolensk nuclear power plants and the Novosibirsk fuel fabrication plant. A comprehensive overview is given of the substantial work which has been performed over the last twelve months to establish the system architecture, to finalize the hardware and software specifications, to define the information flow procedures and layout of the reporting system as well as to set up the accompanying regulatory measures. The technical configuration of the system is described together with the extensive training activities organized for Russian staff. In the near future system components will be installed and an infield implementation support phase accompanies with enhanced training will be started. 289
