Abstract
Nuclear security is an ever-evolving field, as the global threat landscape, technological advancements, and international cooperation continue to change. The key challenges in nuclear security today can be categorized into various areas, each with its unique concerns and complexities. These challenges are driven by a mix of traditional risks (such as theft or sabotage) and emerging threats (such as cyberattacks, insider threats, and geopolitical instability that could escalate into a nuclear arms race). This paper addresses the current challenges facing nuclear security in the modern world, considering the evolution of threats, technological advancements, political changes, and global geopolitical conflicts. We will discuss risks related to nuclear proliferation, cyberattacks, terrorism, political extremism, security of nuclear facilities, and the transportation of nuclear materials. Additionally, the importance of international policies and collaborative efforts to mitigate these challenges will be examined.
