Abstract
In 1979 the INMM N15 ANSI standards chairman requested that a measurement control standard be developed. A charter was approved by ANSI, and individuals from government and private industry participated in writing the standard. The document includes a section which defines error, measurement control program, measurement error model, reference base, and many other terms. It then develops the technical aspects of a measurement control program. This includes modeling the measurement process, establishing the criteria for developing an acceptable measurement, obtaining user requirements, and assessing the measurement process. The administrative aspects of a measurement control program form the final section of the document. These include organization and management, training and qualification of personnel, and auditing the measurement control program.
