Abstract
A conceptual design of a magnetic tape seal system with possible applications in nuclear safeguard systems is proposed. The system makes use of magnetic recording techniques for the deposition and retrieval of identification features that are unique for each applied seal. A portable seal support system will be used to label and interrogate an applied seal on location (in-situ). The necessary system hardware and software requirements are outlined in a conceptual system design configuration which was then used to obtain estimates on system costs.
