Abstract
The computer code BODYFIT-SFS (Boundary-Fitted Coordinate - Spent Fuel Storage), a thermal-hydraulic numerical code for the analysis of natural convective heat transfer and fluid flow in spent fuel configurations is under development. Unlike other thermal codes, it is a true benchamrk code with no assumptions invoked in the case of laminar flow. However, for turbulent flow, some empiricism is employed due to the closure problem of turbulence modeling. The code is a three-dimensional steadystate/ transient single-phase computer program. The governing equations are transformed and solved in a numerically generated boundary-fitted coordinate system. Results obtained for two problems, one in two-dimensions, and the other in three-dimensions, are presented to demonstrate the applicability of the numerical code.
