Abstract
Because an existing Nal-based system cannot analyze transuranic (TRU) and fission product contaminated combustible waste simultaneously at the 10 nCi/g fiducial, a germanium detector was evaluated. The germanium detector was shown to be suitable for this high sensitivity assay application. New assay techniques employing a high resolution germanium detector and improvements to the Nal-based system are discussed.
