Abstract
The use of VACOSS-S seals increased significantly during the last 3 years. The advantages of the seal such as continuous electronic monitoring of the fibre optic cable, re-usability, and the seal's high reliability made it attractive for many safeguards applications. In addition, the capability of remotely interrogating a large number of seals which are applied in one location and interconnected by wire enhanced the use of seals even more. The excellent seal features can only be exploited with an appropriate software on the data processing side. The new software described in this paper features the front end of a data base system, as it handles not only the seal data but also nuclear data related to these seal data. It facilitates the inspectors' task and reduces significantly his work load, especially regarding the use of many seals in control areas.
